Looks like Jack Reynor is set for big things in Hollywood. With a lead role in this week’s Transformers: Age of Extinction now under his belt, the Irish-American actor has already booked his next gig. Deadline reports that Reynor will star for Relativity in their upcoming, untitled film about MLB slugger Josh Hamilton, who “recovered from a drug descent to become a baseball superstar.”
Written and directed by Casey Affleck, Reynor is the first actor to hop on board the film, beating out a number of other strong contenders who were being looked at for the role. Admittedly, it’s a bit surprising that Relativity went with such a fresh talent for this one, but Reynor does seem to possess that rare combination of being good looking as well as being able to actually act, which should definitely ensure that he has a bright future ahead of him.
For those unfamiliar with Hamilton’s story, it’s definitely well suited for film adaptation. Addicted to crack cocaine, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Outfielder almost threw his entire life away after his wife kicked him out of the house. Having to settle for cleaning toilets to make money, the road to recovery was a difficult one. Now, however, he is totally clean and is one of the most feared sluggers in the MLB.
With an actor now set for the lead, you can expect the supporting roles in the film to fill up quickly. Until they do, though, tell us, what do you think of Jack Reynor playing Josh Hamilton? Sound off below!
