Jake Johnson Won’t Be Back For The Jurassic World Sequel

Despite being a fan-favorite and offering some welcome comic relief in Jurassic World, it appears that Jake Johnson will not return for the currently untitled sequel. The news comes straight from the horse's mouth, as the actor Tweeted earlier this week to tell fans not to expect him to show up in the film.

Despite being a fan-favorite and offering some welcome comic relief in Jurassic World, it appears that Jake Johnson will not return for the currently untitled sequel. The news comes straight from the horse’s mouth, as the actor Tweeted earlier this week to tell fans not to expect him to show up in the film.

This isn’t terribly surprising, given the events of Jurassic World, but it’s still a bit disappointing to hear as like I mentioned above, Johnson did well in the role and proved to be a hit with audiences. Given that the sequel likely won’t be focusing on another theme park though, it probably wouldn’t make sense for Johnson’ character to be involved here.

As for where the comedic relief will come from this time around, well, from what we’ve heard Universal is hoping to make the film scarier and more suspenseful, so perhaps there won’t be much need for comedy. Then again, who knows? Not much has surfaced about the sequel just yet and aside from Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning, we really don’t have a whole lot to file under the confirmed folder. With production set to begin soon though, hopefully that’ll change.

Jurassic World 2 (which is what we’ll call it for now) roars into theaters on June 22, 2018. Tell us, are you upset to hear that Jake Johnson won’t be back? Sound off below and let us know!
