Does James Franco Want An Oscar For Spring Breakers?

Spring Breakers was a polarizing film. You either loved it or hated it. No matter which side you fall on though, it’s hard to deny that James Franco’s performance was excellent. It’s so excellent, in fact, that A24 is now pushing for an Oscar nod for the actor, as they’ve taken to Twitter to announce the following.

“We weren’t joking. Consider this shit very seriously. James Franco for Best Supporting Actor.”

Attached to the Tweet is the image seen below, which showcases some choice quotes about Franco’s performance. It may sound nuts but the actor just may get some recognition come Awards season. While I do think that Jared Leto is a lock for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, which is truly extraordinary, I can easily see Franco at least getting a nomination.

Then again, it’s pretty early and the Oscar race has only just started to heat up. There are a TON of great films coming out over the next few months that are sure to feature some very strong performances. Right now, it’s just way too early to predict who is going to get the nods.

Regardless, I think it would be cool to see Franco get some recognition, as his performance here really was a ton of fun to watch. I’ll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for him.

You can check out the Spring Breakers ad below. Then, head to the comments and let us know what you thought of James Franco’s performance.
