Sam Raimi may have finally found a star for his upcoming film Oz, The Great And Powerful. If you’ve been following the film, you’ll remember that Mr. Downey Jr. was going to star. When he dropped out, Mr. Depp came on board, but then he to dropped out. Now it seems as if Mr. Raimi has turned his attention towards none other than James Franco, who has become something of a hot commodity in Hollywood ever since his spectacular performance in Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours. Nothing is confirmed but they are in talks and I don’t see why Franco wouldn’t sign onto a project like this. Especially considering he has already worked with Raimi in the past.
The plot, which will act as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz will follow “a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches.”
The film is expected to start shooting during the second half of this year.
