James Gunn's The Suicide Squad could not compete with the viewership attained by Godzilla vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat, but the R-rated comic book romp has still become the most-watched DCEU movie to debut on HBO Max, having eclipsed the 17-day tallies of Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder's Justice League.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad could not compete with the viewership attained by Godzilla vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat, but the R-rated comic book romp has still become the most-watched DCEU movie to debut on HBO Max, having eclipsed the 17-day tallies of Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

The film’s box office performance was not quite as strong, though, after the soft reboot of David Ayer’s original opened below expectations at the beginning of the month; there’s a long way to go before it recoups the $185 million budget.

Additionally, one week from today will mark the end of The Suicide Squad‘s initial one-month window on HBO Max before it hits the VOD market and eventually circles back around; but Gunn and ensemble are looking to sign off in style, as seen below.

While there’s no word on who will drop by The Suicide Squad watch party, John Cena’s presence is a high probability. Don’t be surprised if he shows up in full Peacemaker costume, as well, just as he did for almost the entirety of the press circuit.
