Is James Gunn Giving Mark Hamill A Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3?

I've always felt that Mark Hamill is a sorely underrated actor. Sure, Luke Skywalker in the Original Trilogy didn't get the most iconic lines, but he's the glue that holds the whole narrative together. Fortunately, Rian Johnson gave him an ample opportunity to prove how great he was with The Last Jedi, weaving in a ton of complexity and conflict to the role that Hamill performed beautifully.

Honestly, I’ve always felt that Mark Hamill is a sorely underrated actor. Sure, Luke Skywalker in the Original Trilogy didn’t get the most iconic lines, but he’s the glue that holds the whole narrative together. Fortunately, Rian Johnson gave him ample opportunity to prove how great he was with The Last Jedi, weaving in a ton of complexity and conflict to the role that Hamill performed beautifully.

Of course, true Hamill aficionados won’t be too surprised, as they’ll know that he’s been the go-to voice for the Joker across the DC Animated Universe and the Arkham series of video games. Now, however, fans are murmuring about whether he should step into another comic book property: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It goes without saying that the Marvel Cinematic Universe would probably welcome someone like Hamill with open arms and tonight on Twitter, a fan Tweeted at Guardians director James Gunn asking him to please find a role for the Star Wars actor in Vol. 3. Unsurprisingly, Gunn seemed into the idea and suggested Hamill come over to talk about it, since they live close to one another.

Things then took another interesting turn when Hamill himself joined in on the conversation, saying that he’d be happy to chat with the director and asked Gunn to send him a private message with his contact info so that they could discuss further. Of course, he replied back to Hamill saying he would and it was at that point the exchange ended, with the two of them presumably moving their chat off Twitter.

Now, this is far from any sort of confirmation that Mark Hamill will ever show up in the MCU or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but it’s understandably got fans very, very excited, with tons of chatter already popping up on social media in regards to who he could play and what the chances of this happening are. If you ask us, if Hamill’s indeed serious about joining the franchise, Marvel will make it happen. Perhaps not in Vol. 3, but maybe somewhere down the road.

It’s impossible to say right now, however, how serious this Twitter exchange was intended to be, but as Hamill said in one of his Tweets, he’s currently unemployed at the moment and the possibility of getting to interact with characters like Star-Lord, Drax and the rest of the gang in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might be too tempting to pass up. Fingers crossed, eh?
