James Gunn was completely oblivious to a prophetic ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ scene

After hearing it, it becomes so obvious that it's hard to believe no one thought of it before.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is knocking it out of the ballpark in box office sales as fans keep showing up in droves to see the final installment of the franchise. When James Gunn was asked if the Daniela Melchior connection was planned with who Star-Lord calls himself, he admitted that he had no clue about the magical coincidence.

Daniela Melchoir has only been acting since 2014 when she was cast as Viviana Gomes in Mulheres – a role that landed her 316 episodes from 2014 to 2015 before going on to play Claudia in 221 episodes of The Payback in 2017. Since then, she’s played Ratcatcher 2 in The Suicide Squad in 2021, Sophie in Assassin Club in 2023, and she’s cast to play Ellie in the upcoming Road House, still in post-production.

That’s where the strange connection between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Daniela Melchoir exists. She plays Ura, an administrator for Orgoscope. When the Guardians are trying to sneak into the company as a part of their mission, they bump into her along the way. When Peter Quill tries to flirt with her to get her to help, he introduces himself as Patrick Swayze… and therein lies the Easter Egg only one very observant viewer caught.

Scratching his head and wishing he had actually thought of it, Gunn had to admit that even he was unaware and that it was indeed a magical coincidence.

Other fans were just as unaware that the Patrick Swayze reference is a very subtle nod to the original Road House, the remake of which Melchoir is set to star in at some time in the unknown future.

To the rescue comes an explainer who — if anyone were to make a bet — they hadn’t thought of it either until it was brought to their attention.

What a way for James Gunn to find out that his work was more ingenious than he originally thought it was. Guardians is currently in theaters all across the country and will be streaming on Disney + in the very near future.
