James Wan Silently Responds To Aquaman Departure Rumors

This past Friday, word got out that Seth Grahame-Smith vacated the director's chair for the upcoming film, The Flash. Mere hours later, rumors started swirling that James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring 2) would follow suit and depart the Aquaman movie. Sure, it was technically said that he was feeling "trepidation" about the project, but if you felt the timing of the latter piece of news was too convenient, you may have been onto something.

This past Friday, word got out that Seth Grahame-Smith vacated the director’s chair for The Flash. Mere hours later, rumors started swirling that James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring 2) would follow suit and depart the Aquaman movie. Word had it that he was feeling “trepidation” about the project, but if you felt the timing of the latter piece of news was too convenient, you may have been onto something.

Not keen to let rumors kill any possible momentum that the King of the Seven Seas’ first big screen outing may have, Wan posted the following photo on Twitter.

One doesn’t have to possess Batman’s analytical skills to know that that looks like a director who is confident in his project and has no intention of departing. I must admit that I had a bit of a laugh seeing him casually stand below an oversized image of Arthur Curry, as I figured something like this would occur before the weekend was over. Yes, a lot can happen between now and the summer of 2018, but my gut tells me Wan isn’t going anywhere.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa in the titular role and will arrive in theaters on July 27, 2018.
