Singular tastes and dark secrets may have cast a looming shadow over their overly intense relationship from the outset – tastes and secrets that often originated from Christian’s end – but by the time we are introduced to Mr. Grey and his muse Ana Steele in Fifty Shades Darker, the two are working to establish some sense of normalcy.

Licking his wounds from the fallout of the first film, Jamie Dornan’s possessive billionaire presents the ever-cautious Ana with a new agreement, and it’s only when Miss Steele lays down some ground rules that the pair begin to give things another chance.

So far, so seductive. What threatens to throw a spanner in among the foreplaying and S&M is the introduction of Christian’s former flames – damaged former flames that want little more than to bring ruination to the already fractured relationship between our central duo.
