Today brought the announcement that horror fans have been patiently waiting for since Michael Myers returned to the big screen last October. Blumhouse is making not just one sequel to their 2018 Halloween reboot but also a third film to complete the trilogy – and maybe the series as a whole – to follow the next year. What’s more, it’s been confirmed that Jamie Lee Curtis will reprise the iconic role of Laurie Strode once again.
Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse, revealed the exciting news on Twitter. As well as announcing the two movies’ titles and release dates – Halloween Kills (2019) and Halloween Ends (2020) – Blum clarified that “the gang is ALL back.” This means that Curtis will again lead, with Danny McBride contributing to the script and David Gordon Green directing. Halloween creator John Carpenter will also return to compose the score.

2018’s Halloween ended with Laurie unleashing her decades-long plan of revenge on Michael by locking him in her burning house. No one familiar with the franchise was fooled that this was really it for the Shape, though, so it’s no surprise he lived to murder his way through another Halloween.
As for Laurie, she was last seen hitching a ride on a truck with her daughter Karen (Judi Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), who both survived the battle with Michael. Blum doesn’t confirm that Greer and Matichak will also feature in the upcoming movies, but seeing as the rest of the team from the last one are all coming back, it would only make sense.
Halloween Kills will be Curtis’ sixth appearance in the franchise, following 1978’s Halloween, the original Halloween II, H20, Resurrection and 2018’s effort. She’s been fleeing from Myers for over 40 years, but will Halloween Ends finally see her destroy her tormentor once and for all? Or will the killer win out in the end? Time will tell.
