Now that production on Blumhouse’s Halloween sequel is finally underway, we expect news regarding the next entry in the enduring horror franchise to trickle in on a regular basis. And even though the latest treat is not a casting announcement or something that hearkens back to familiar locations, it’s pretty exciting nonetheless.
Basically, the reason today’s exhibit has us so giddy is because it comes directly from Jamie Lee Curtis herself, who’s been long synonymous with the Halloween series. Mostly because it did wonders to help launch her acting career, but also because she can’t help coming home in the decades to follow the original.
Anyway, one of the foremost scream queens/final girls to ever grace the silver screen has taken to Twitter today to post an image from a gun range, which you can check out in the gallery down below along with a few previously released set pics.
Captioned with “First shot. 357. Feels good to have Laurie back on set for @halloweenmovie,” it remains unclear as to whether this is from a scene she was in the midst of shooting, or if she was simply re-familiarizing herself with firearms for a scene to be shot down the line. Either way, it seems like Laurie Strode will continue being one of the few people who actually has the guts to go toe-to-toe with Michael Myers.
Furthermore, it’s difficult to look at this and not recall the ending to John Carpenter’s classic picture from 1978. As you may remember, Laurie attempted to give Michael an acute case of lead poisoning, which he obviously survived. But knowing that the upcoming reboot will tinker with that ending, well, that just adds all the more intrigue to the situation and will fuel speculation like you wouldn’t believe.
Halloween opens in theaters on October 19th.
