With the marketing push for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in full effect now, it seems like some of the cast is hoping to get in on the fun, too. Case in point: Jared Leto has posted a new selfie to Instagram today (seen below) showing us his extremely creepy take on the Joker, flashing a smile that will no doubt give some of you nightmares.

It’s unclear exactly where or when this was taken, but on the set of the film or while shooting Rick Ross and Skrillex’s “Purple Lamborghini” music video seem like the best bets. Either way, it’s scary stuff, to be sure, and once again shows us just how into the character Leto is.

At this point, we’re almost ready to believe that the actor will be able deliver a take on the iconic DC villain that ranks right up there with what we saw from Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. Whether he’ll be able to surpass them or not is still up for debate, but as of now, we’re fairly confident that Jared Leto has something very special in store for us when the film opens next month.

Suicide Squad hits theatres on August 5th and stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Ben Affleck, Cara Delevingne and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
