There’s not much here to feast on, but considering that this is the first bit of footage that’s been released, we’re certainly not complaining. From what we can tell, it appears as if both Greengrass and Damon are bringing their A game, fitting back comfortably into the franchise after briefly departing from it.

Though much of the plot is still being kept under wraps, the Super Bowl spot does drop a few hints as to what’s about to go down. Damon has also teased in the past that the story picks up twelve years after The Bourne Ultimatum, with the titular hero “in a dark and tortured place.”

“Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” said Damon in an interview last year. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”

Set to hit theatres on July 29th, Jason Bourne also stars Julia Stiles, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel, Alicia Vikander and Riz Ahmed, among others.
