Jason Momoa Now Being Body-Shamed, Proving The World’s Gone Mad

It must be difficult to live your life in the public eye, especially now in the age of social media where your every move is being photographed, scrutinized and posted online. The internet has become so ubiquitous that it both defines and dominates modern culture, and it is also capable of bringing out both the best and worst in people.

In further evidence that the online discourse has gone totally crazy though, Aquaman star Jason Momoa has recently found himself the target of body-shamers after pictures of the 39 year-old on vacation inevitably made their way onto the internet. That’s right; the guy that played Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and recently headlined a billion-dollar movie where he spent the majority of time shirtless is being criticized for not being in shape 365 days a year.

Obviously, this is ridiculous. If Jason Momoa is getting accused of being out-of-shape, then 99% of the rest of us are doomed. While the actor did pile on a huge amount of muscle in preparation for playing Arthur Curry in James Wan’s comic book blockbuster, it would be unsustainable to try and keep that kind of size all year round. Chris Hemsworth has previously talked of the challenges of repeatedly getting into ‘superhero shape,’ and one of the reasons Hugh Jackman decided to sign off as Wolverine was the toll that bulking up to play the character was taking on his body.

Currently shooting Denis Villenueve’s highly-anticipated Dune adaptation in Hungary and Jordan, Momoa won’t need to suit up again for a while anyway; Aquaman 2 isn’t even scheduled to be released until December 2022, giving the Justice League star plenty of time to silence his delusional online critics.
