Can The Crow remake (now titled The Crow Reborn) ever take flight in Hollywood? That’s a question that’s plagued said reimagining for years, as Relativity’s horror/fantasy pic ricocheted from one director to another in what quickly became a truly torrid saga of false hope and non-starts.

It was during this time that Jack HustonLuke Evans, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Bradley Cooper all came attached to the part of Eric Draven – a role that was originally brought to life by Brandon Lee all those years ago – at various stages, only to drop out before The Crow remake could garner a sense of momentum. And that’s before you even factor in Relativity’s financial woes, which resulted in the project uprooting for a new home at Davis Films, Highland Film Group, and Electric Shadow.

Between them, those three parties have pledged their combined support to the re-adaptation, and now, there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel. That’s because after landing at Sony a few months back, we heard not too long ago that production is set to get underway in February of 2018. Jason Momoa, who’s seemingly still attached to star, has now confirmed that timeline as well.

Taking to Instagram this weekend, the actor posted the following two photos, along with the caption: I’ve been waiting for sooooo long. @corinhardy let’s do this brother aloha.

There’s not too much else to report on at the moment, but with a distributor and production start date now locked down, we imagine that The Crow may finally – finally! – take flight. Then again, this isn’t the first time everything looked good to go only to fall apart unexpectedly at the last second. As such, we won’t get our hopes up just yet.

Still, we’re choosing to remain cautiously optimistic here and with any luck, the stars will align this time so that Eric Draven may have his moment in the spotlight once more.
