Jeff Goldblum Says He’d Be Open To Returning For Jurassic World 3

With the world premiere of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in the bag, and the J.A. A sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World, which earned an astounding $1.6 billion worldwide – good enough for fifth on the all-time global gross chart – the biggest draw, arguably, of Fallen Kingdom is the return of Dr. Ian Malcolm. Effortlessly the most charismatic and quotable of the original scientist trio featured in Steven Spielberg’s initial dino-drama, Jurassic Park, Malcolm, portrayed by the incomparable Jeff Goldblum, is ready to once again step foot on Isla Nublar.

Over the last few months, Goldblum, who’s effectively launched himself back into the limelight with his turn as the Grandmaster in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, hasn’t shied away from teasing the possible return of his 1993 co-star Laura Dern, nor has he been coy regarding his upcoming performance as the lovably idiosyncratic chaos theorist.

During a sit-down with Collider, the actor was an open book yet again, revealing that he’d be more than willing to reprise his iconic role in Jurassic World 3, should the opportunity present itself.

“Who knows? I’m curious about it. If nothing else happened, I’d be entirely satisfied and nourished and lucky and thrilled to have done all of this. If I can be of any service, that’s my posture and authentic feeling.”

“I’ve kind of nosed around, ’cause I’ve had such a great time, and [Jurassic World 3 director Colin Trevorrow’s] so good. We did that Jeep commercial; he directed that. He’s awful good. I’d like to work with him more on anything. I can imagine, but it’s up to them. Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael, who I think is writing the script with him.”

Confirmed for a June 11th, 2021 release by Universal, Jurassic World 3, which has Emily Carmichael on script duty, working from a treatment penned by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow, is believed to have the latter at the helm once again. The man himself has even teased that the third installment “will be a science thriller” akin to Jurassic Park, and though details beyond that remain scarce, we’re certainly excited to see what the studio’s cooked up.
