As you may recall, word got out a few weeks back that Jennifer Connelly took part in the upcoming blockbuster, which Marvel was forced to confirm soon after the news broke. Now, we can reveal whom she’s playing, but it comes as a bit of a surprise.

If you’ve been on the Marvel Cinematic Universe bandwagon to this point, then you’re well aware that its version of Tony Stark has no qualms against keeping the company of artificial intelligence. Most notable of the lot was that of Jarvis, voiced by Paul Bettany, whom later evolved into the heroic android known as the Vision.

Funnily enough, Bettany’s real life wife, Connelly, will follow suit by providing the voice for Karen, the AI native to Spidey’s souped-up set crafted by Stark himself. In fact, director Jon Watts didn’t mind having a laugh over this when recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly:

“Yes, it’s Jarvis’ wife. It’s cool, right?”

Right now, we’re trying to wrap our heads around how Karen and Vision could possibly share a scene in an upcoming Marvel flick, but it’s probably safe to assume that she won’t be bestowed a body of her own – but you never know. Still, if she did, 2003’s Hulk is so far behind us that moviegoers likely won’t find her synonymous with Betty Ross any longer.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters this Friday, July 7.
