Deadline is reporting that the Ice Age franchise is adding a few new faces for the next installment in the franchise, Ice Age: Continental Drift. Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Dennis Leary, John Leguizamo, Seann William Scott and Josh Peck will all return and new additions include Jeremy Renner, Wanda Sykes, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer and two musicians in the form of Drake and Jennifer Lopez.
The announcement was made during a presentation given by Fox Filmed Entertainment co-chair Tom Rothman and Fox Animation Studios president Vanessa Morrison to licensees and promotional partners. Also announced was a possible on ice touring show, a multiplayer online game, a Christmas TV special and more. Looks like Fox is really trying to grow the franchise. And with that star studded cast, I’m sure they’ll have no problem with that.
The film will open in 3D on July 13, 2012 and the plot summary is as follows:
One of filmdom’s most beloved trios — Ice Age‘s Manny, Diego, and Sid — embark upon their greatest adventure after cataclysm sets an entire continent adrift. Separated from the rest of the herd, they use an iceberg as a makeshift ship, which launches them on an epic seafaring quest to find the others. Manny and the gang are challenged like never before to become heroes and do the impossible, as they encounter exotic sea creatures, explore a brave new world, and battle ruthless pirates. And Scrat’s reunion with his cursed nut catapults him to places no prehistoric squirrel has gone before
