Jesse Eisenberg Praises The Serious Tone Of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

The general perception among fans is that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is all about the comedy, and Warner Bros. are aiming for an altogether more serious DC Extended Universe. This isn't necessarily true of course, as Marvel has shown they can get "dark 'n gritty" with the likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Man Of Steel had a bit more humor in it than many seem to give it credit for.

Still, there’s no denying that everything we’ve seen from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice so far suggests that it won’t exactly be a laugh riot, and now Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) would seem to have confirmed as much in his latest interview.

“Yes, it is like the most incredible character. It was written by this guy, Chris Terrio. This is like his first movie after Argo. He’s just this brilliant writer of characters. So this movie is not this kind of cartoonish superhero movie. It is very serious and well acted, well written, well directed movie. It’s really phenomenal!”

High praise indeed, and hey, even if WB really did have some kind of “no jokes” policy (they don’t) like that rumor from a while ago claimed, would that really be so bad? Personally, I’m fine with Marvel making funny, entertaining movies and DC offering a slightly more serious, grounded alternative. And I think many people feel the same.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
