Jessica Chastain Says It: Chapter Two Has The Bloodiest Horror Scene Ever

Remember that scene from 2017’s It when Beverly Marsh, played by Sophia Lillis, is doused with gallons of blood that comes spurting from her bathroom sink? Well, it seems that It: Chapter Two is attempting to top that moment.

The upcoming sequel is taking the story forward a full 27 years, with Jessica Chastain now stepping in to play the adult Beverly. And when the actress appeared last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she spoke of a sequence that left her soaking in the red stuff:

“In the movie there’s a scene that someone said on set that it’s the most blood that’s ever been in a horror film, in a scene.”

Though the Academy Award nominee didn’t offer any context to this abundance of blood, she did provide one more graphic image:

“The next day I was pulling blood out of my eyeballs.”

If the sequence is anything like the bathroom scene from the first movie, then there’s a good chance that this blood will be part of another vision, rather than the blood of any actual characters. Either way, audiences will likely be left pretty shaken, with director Andy Muschietti claiming at SDCC last year that the sequel will “crank up the horror aspects” and be “scarier and more intense” that the first film. The Mama helmsman even went as far as to boast that audiences should “wear adult diapers” to the screening.

Some bold claims for a movie that hadn’t even wrapped filming at the time, but with the first trailer predicted to drop at CinemaCon in April, we hopefully won’t have much longer to wait before we get a taste of the spectacle to come. Either way, fans of Pennywise’s gruesome antics won’t need any further convincing to check out It: Chapter Two when it arrives in theaters on September 6th, 2019.
