Just a couple of months ago, we heard the news that Bobby and Peter Farrelly would be making a sequel to their hit comedy Dumb and Dumber, with both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels returning to reprise their original roles. Apparently, this is no longer the case as ET has announced that Carrey is leaving the project.
The official reason given is that he “grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project.” Carrey added, “I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all, it’s implied in the title.”
What this means for the future of the project is unknown. Will Jeff Daniels still be reprising his role? Will the Farrelly Brothers want to continue sans Carrey? I suppose only time will tell. In the meantime, fans of Carrey can look forward to his return to the big screen next year in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
What say you? Would you want to see a Dumb and Dumber sequel without Jim Carrey? It couldn’t possibly be as bad as the prequel, right?
