The wait for Star Trek 2 is becoming unbearable.

Two set photos showcasing Benedict Cumberbatch as a villainous character were posted online not too long ago and they put fans into a fury. Now, during a sketch at the MTV Movie Awards, we got our first look at the film. It’s unfinished, but it’s our first look alright.

The alien shown in the background of the above photo has been confirmed by Trekkies over at TrekMovie as a villainous Klingon. It’s not yet known what the origin of the Klingon is but an already popular rumour is stating that the Klingon is from the 2009 film’s deleted scenes.

HitFix is shooting down that rumor though as they’re reporting that the screencap in the background was “not an accident”. It is definitely from Star Trek 2.

Personally, I’m not a hardcore fan of Star Trek but I think the character looks really neat and it’s a good twist on the Klingon design.

Star Trek 2 beams up into theaters and IMAX on May 17th, 2013.
