Hype for the Joaquin Phoenix Joker solo movie went through the roof this week, and fans can’t get enough of the actor’s take on the Clown Prince of Crime.

With the film beginning its location shooting in New York, photographers have swarmed the set hoping for a glimpse of the villain in full clown regalia. And judging from all the pics that’ve turned up over the past few days, they’ve been pretty damn successful. Not to mention that director Todd Phillips has shared a few goodies as well, hoping to put out some official photos to combat all the paparazzi.

Of course, all these new looks at Phoenix in the role have made it pretty easy for fans to get creative with their own material, and already we’ve seen tons of new art emerge online, with a lot of people giving the actor’s version of Mr. J different spins. That continues today, too, with this haunting new teaser below which comes to us courtesy of digital artist Boss Logic.

Described by the studio as a “gritty character study,” Joker will focus on Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, who goes from failing comedian to one of the most iconic comic book villains there is. But along the way, he’ll come into contact with a few other important individuals, including Zazie Beetz’s Sophie Drummond. The Deadpool 2 actress will be playing Arthur’s love interest, though it remains to be seen whether their relationship will help keep the man sane for a little while longer, or ultimately be what pushes him over the edge.

Either way, Mr. Fleck is going to live long enough to see himself become the villain, and we’ll find out how that all unfolds when Joker laughs its way into theaters on October 4th, 2019.
