Having been attached to the role of Rick Flag ever since Tom Hardy departed the project, it appears as though RoboCop star Joel Kinnaman has officially confirmed his place in David Ayer’s upcoming superhero film, Suicide Squad.

Currently doing the press rounds for Liam Neeson-led actioner Run All Night, the Swedish actor provided a plain and simple update on the in-development project to outlet Allocine.

All I can say is that I will be in the movie, and it’s going to be amazing.

This tidbit comes hot on the heels of Ayer’s decision to (somewhat obscurely) reveal Jared Leto as The Joker. Sporting a bleach blonde hairstyle, it’s understood this new incarnation will be a significant departure form the realistic approach seen in Nolan’s The Dark Knight, instead opting for a more flamboyant and cunning trickster.

Now, with Leto clearly preparing for the role and co-star Margot Robbie revealing her desire to play eclectic girlfriend Harley Quinn for more than one movie, it seems the wheels are certainly beginning to turn on Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad and it shouldn’t be long before we see the full cast of villains in their respective costumes.

Speaking of which, that line-up in question is set to include Will Smith as Deadshot, The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as the Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

Suicide Squad will blast into theaters on August 5, 2016.
