Now that he’s been cast in Robocop, the upcoming remake of the hit 80’s sci-fi film, actor Joel Kinnaman is starting to talk about where the film is heading and what director José Padilha‘s vision for it is.
Speaking to MTV, Kinnaman talked about how this version will differ from the original. We’ve heard that it will be less exxagerated than Paul Verhoeven‘s take on the story but now we have some additional information.
It’s a re-imagination of it. There’s a lot of stuff from the original. There are some details and throwbacks, but this version is a much better acting piece, for Alex Murphy and especially when he is RoboCop. It’s much more challenging… [The helmet is] not going to be jaw action. They’re still working on the suit and how it’s going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through. You’re going to see his eyes.
Sounds interesting, and I’m excited to see where Padilha can take the film. His Elite Squad films were excellent and he should be able to bring a unique vision to what is a classic sci-fi movie.
