Finn and Rey in Star Wars The Last Jedi

John Boyega Says Finn’s Part Of A Love Pentagon In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

While the Original Trilogy had Han and Leia, and the Prequel Trilogy had Padmé and Anakin, the Sequel Trilogy has yet to give us a single well-defined romantic relationship between its stars. Granted, there are a lot of fans still shipping Rey and Kylo Ren, while there’s certainly potential for Finn to partner with either Rey or Rose. But by and large, it all rests with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to pair up its main players. In the meantime, however, John Boyega seems all too happy to fuel the fan fiction being written about his character.

At the recent Star Wars Celebration panel for the upcoming Last Jedi sequel, Boyega suggested that Finn still has a lot of options open to him:

“You add Poe in there as well, there’s a love triangle. Very complicated. We’ve got a few aliens that’ve been looking at Finn a certain type of way, so I don’t know if you want to add their names to the list. Yeah, it’s a love pentagon, man. There’s a lot going on. I think he is [the most eligible bachelor in the galaxy] period. Finn is single and willing to mingle.”

While we wouldn’t place any money on Finn ending up with Poe Dameron, there’s definite potential for something to happen with Rose after the pair shared a kiss in their last film. But for the time being, Boyega is staying cryptic on the possibility of that moment leading to something more:

“She my girl. There’s nice chemistry. It’s in the middle of a war, we’re trying to figure ourselves out. We love you one day, don’t love you the next. It’s a very distracting place to fall in love.”

Rose Tico actress Kelly Marie Tran was at the panel herself, where she was asked if she and Boyega would have another romantic exchange in their next film, to which she responded:

“All I’ll say is Finn is a very eligible bachelor.”

Evidently, the cast is content to keep the fans guessing, and we still have more than eight months left to speculate. In the meantime, this year’s Celebration saw Lucasfilm finally open up a little on J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated trilogy-closer. Last Friday, for instance, saw the release of the movie’s long-awaited first trailer, which also unveiled the film’s official title. Both reveals arguably left us with more questions than we had before, but all will become clear when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th.
