Now that filming on Blumhouse Productions’ Halloween has officially commenced, we’ve been given a continuous flow of news and photos from the set. Actually, some of them have proven to be real delights, especially those such as one showing Nick Castle taking a break in between takes.
For those unfamiliar, Castle played horror icon Michael Myers all the way back in the original film released in 1978. Well, at least for most of the picture. You see, Tony Moran filled in when Michael was shown to be unmasked, something we’re wondering if they’ll repeat in the upcoming sequel.
As you may know, the latest crack at the bat acknowledges only the events depicted in John Carpenter’s original movie that we just mentioned, effectively ignoring all that followed. Given that, it makes sense that we see an older Michael Myers, thus making Castle’s return more than fitting. Still, it should be noted that James Jude Courtney has also been enlisted for the same role, so maybe it’ll be his face that we see if another unmasking does indeed occur. Only time will tell.
All seriousness aside, it’s pretty cool to see Nick Castle reuniting with John Carpenter in this photo (seen in the gallery above, with a few other recent pics) taken on the set of the new film. Posted on the Instagram page belonging to Ryan Turek, if nothing else, it should get longtime fans of the franchise geeked for what’s to come.
Speaking of which, here’s the official synopsis for the movie, which teases Laurie’s final confrontation with Michael.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Halloween opens in theaters on October 19th.
