John Wick has well and truly decided that he’s back in the latest John Wick: Chapter 2 trailer, which pits Keanu Reeves’s badass hitman against a lot of other badass hitmen.

When we last left the titular assassin, he was walking into the sunset – more or less – in the company of his new dog, having taken revenge against the murderers of the first one. Now he’s back again, this time facing off against even more people who want to kill him. Some old faces return, including John Leguizamo’s Aurelio and Ian McShane’s Winston, the proprietor of the Continental Hotel, while there are also some new guys milling about – like Laurence Fishburne, who gets to speak the trailer’s most quotable line.

John Wick: Chapter 2 looks like more of the same neo-noir mayhem that made the original so much fun, and brought Keanu Reeves back from the brink of B-movie-dom. The plot doesn’t really matter – there’s something about Wick coming out of retirement yet again to help an old associate who wants to take over the international assassins’ guild. What does matter is the gunplay, the aesthetics and Keanu Reeves. And that’s all here, in great abundance, with Wick shooting up nice restaurants and being menaced by baddies everywhere (including, it appears, Central Park).

John Wick: Chapter 2 is being directed by Chad Stahelski, going solo without his co-director David Leitch, who has gone on to make Deadpool 2. Stahelski has described this film as akin to Aliens – taking the same basic idea and going in a different direction. We’ve also been promised that John Wick’s puppy companion will not be dying this time around. Well, yeah, that dog better survive the film. I’ll be very unhappy if it doesn’t.

John Wick: Chapter 2 will open on February 10th, 2017, so we really don’t have that long to wait. Until then, enjoy the trailer above.
