That Joker And Harley Quinn Film Is Still In Development

Despite rumors that it's been cancelled, the Joker and Harley Quinn movie is very much alive at Warner Bros. According to our sources - the same ones who told us Ewan McGregor is returning to the role of Obi-Wan, and that Robert Pattinson will be the next Batman, both of which have been confirmed - the flick is currently still in development. While this doesn't completely ensure that the film will ever see the light of the day, it also means that it hasn't been shelved yet.

Unfortunately, the details beyond that remain murky. After all, Jared Leto seems to have worn out his stay as Gotham City’s most infamous villain, despite his desire to take on the role again, and Joaquin Phoenix is currently playing the Clown Prince in an upcoming origin story entitled Joker that’s slated to be released later this year. It’s unknown if Phoenix will portray the role of the villain in other movies though after this one hits theaters, or if his time as the notorious bad guy will come to an end after the standalone flick.

Conversely, the other half of the equation looks like it’s set in stone. Margot Robbie seems like she’s locked in as Harley Quinn for as long as she wants to be. Her upcoming feature Birds of Prey focuses on the fun-loving character, as well as several other of Batman’s nemeses, and is expected to be a smash hit just like Joker.

It’s likely that the studio is waiting to see how these two projects do at the box office before they move forward with a joint venture. If the two films live up to their lofty expectations, then a pic starring both characters seems inevitable. It’s just unclear when it may get off the ground.

Tell us, though, do you want to see a movie starring the Joker and Harley Quinn some time in the near future? Sound off in the comments below with your thoughts and as always, keep checking back for further updates on Gotham City’s biggest and baddest.
