Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been a busy man of late. On top of planning his directorial debut, Don Jon’s Addiction, which he will star in alongside Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore, Gordon-Levitt has been busy with high profile projects like Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises and Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln. The man’s schedule is becoming increasingly busy and today he announced that he will be pulling out of one of his upcoming films.

While talking to MTV, the actor let slip that he had to drop out of Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained.

“No, I’m not going to get to do that. I’d love to, but it just doesn’t work. It was so cool to trust me to do this little part in his movie. I would have loved, loved to have done it. He’s one of my very favorite filmmakers, and he was really supportive of me directing and that meant the world to me,” said Gordon-Levitt.

Even though the part was small, I really was looking forward to seeing the pair work together. Hopefully it will still happen down the road somewhere. Gordon-Levitt is a fantastic actor and it would have been awesome to see him in a Tarantino film.

No work yet on who will replace Gordon-Levitt, but with the film now in principal photography it won’t be long before we find out.

Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Kerry Washington, and Sacha Baron Cohen and will be released on December 25th, 2o12.
