The rumor mill rotates once again in relation to Christopher Nolan’s conclusion of his Batman trilogy: The Dark Knight Rises. Most recently, Inception star Joseph Gordon-Levitt was cast and many people speculated as to what his role could be. The silliest of these speculations was that he would play Robin, when we know that both Nolan and Christian Bale are completely opposed to that idea.

More sensible then to see Gordon-Levitt in a more fitting and appropriate role. According to an anonymous source at Comic Book Movie he will play Alberto Falcone, son of Carmine Falcone. Who will return to get his part of the city back after his father was institutionalised. This seems to make more sense, considering the Falcone crime gang was a huge part of Batman Begins and to see them return, especially with Tom Wilkinson, would be great.

Whatever role Gordon-Levitt ends up getting I know he will be great in it. He and Nolan worked together brilliantly on Inception and I would love to see how he fits into the Batman/Nolan universe for the concluding part of the trilogy. He joins a cast which includes regulars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman along with Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway in villain roles. It will be released in July 2012.
