As one of Hollywood’s most exciting young actors, it’s always interesting to see where Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to apply his talents next. Coming off the very successful Don Jon, which he starred in, directed and wrote, Gordon-Levitt is now looking to go back to just acting as he’s taken the lead role in Robert Zemeckis’ To Reach The Clouds.
The film actually sounds pretty interesting, as it will focus on French high-wire walker Philippe Petit. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he was the subject of the excellent documentary Man on Wire.
Based on the memoir of the same name, To Reach The Clouds will depict Petit’s greatest accomplishment: the World Trade Center walk. For those who are unfamiliar with the event, in 1974 Petit ran along a steel cable from the South Tower to the North Tower, 1350 feet in the air. He then continued to walk back and forth, amazing those who were watching from down below.
No other cast members have been announced and a start date is still unclear. Now that the film has its star though, it shouldn’t be too long before the wheels start turning. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
