Now that Star Wars: Episode VII seems to have removed itself from the headlines, at least for the time being, the newest film to be swarmed by casting rumors is Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot. We know that several actors are currently testing for roles but thus far, all we’ve been hearing about are Mr. Fantastic and Johnny and Sue Storm. Miles Teller is said to be the favorite for Mr. Fantastic while Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara might show up as the Storm siblings. The one role we haven’t heard about, however, is that of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
That’s about to change though as the rumor mill has officially been opened in regards to the last member of the Fantastic Four and according to Movies.com, Josh Gad is the favorite. Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed but rather it comes from a source who is “close to the film.” So take that as you will. That being said, keep in mind that Gad is around the same age as the other actors who are currently testing. Plus, the actor is very hot at the moment. Having just appeared in Jobs and Frozen, Gad is popping up in relation to a whole bunch of projects lately and it wouldn’t surprise me if Fox has approached him for their upcoming reboot.
Fantastic Four is set to release in June 2014, so production should get underway shortly. When we hear more official news on the casting we’ll let you know. For now though, tell us, what do you think of Josh Gad playing The Thing?
