Today we have a little more detail on Whedon’s contract with Marvel. According to /Film, Whedon will be on contract to Marvel through June 2015, which gives us a bit of an idea as to when we can expect his work on these projects to take place.

Marvel had this to say on the matter:

Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live-action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.

It will be interesting to see what that last line means in the coming years. Will he be helping out with the upcoming Captain America and Thor sequels, or perhaps Guardians of the Galaxy?

One thing is for sure, he did some pretty impressive things with The Avengers, so it’s great to hear that he will not only be doing the sequel, but will continue to develop more projects with Marvel.

Looking again at the end date of his contract, we can probably expect a May 2015 release for The Avengers sequel.

Besides The Avengers 2, what Marvel project would you like to see Joss Whedon work on? Let us know in the comments!
