The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees is a documentary that promises to deep dive into the creation of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, perhaps the most infamous addition to the Friday the 13th series, well, ever.

Directed by Adam Marcus, the nerve-wracking slasher originally premiered in 1993, and soon became the horror flick everyone loved to hate. This hotly-anticipated doc hopes to get to the bottom of that controversy, and while we’ve yet to receive word of an official release date, the suitably epic poster art has emerged online for your viewing pleasure, one which cuts to the chase and casts light on the sequel’s most iconic moment.

Feast thy eyes:

The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees: The Making of the Final Friday is directed by Nick Hunt, with Marcus serving as producer and all-around creative advisor. Further details on this special documentary remained locked up at Camp Crystal Lake, but with the official poster now out in the wild, it shouldn’t be too much longer before Hunt and Marcus are ready to showcase their wares.

Coming up on the 25th Anniversary of Jason Goes to Hell, the film will be giving viewers a never-before-seen in-depth look at the most infamous Jason film of all time. Through interviews and behind the scenes details, you will understand the unique landscape the series was in at the time, having just changed studios and already being on the road to the eventual Freddy vs Jason film which wouldn’t see release for another 8 years. You will see the unusual hand Adam Marcus was dealt and the immense pressure and scrutiny which was placed on him during production. And you will see genre greats, both who were in the film and not, weigh in on Jason’s journey to hell.

No word of a firm release date at the moment, but rest assured, we’ll be bringing you all the latest on The Dark Heart Of Jason Voorhees and its ETA over the coming weeks.
