In honor of Thanksgiving Weekend, Colin Trevorrow has unveiled the first footage from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, in which Pratt’s swashbuckling dino expert gets up close and personal with his scaly new friend.

Clocking in at only six seconds, there are no tangible story clues to be found in Fallen Kingdom‘s first teaser, aside from the fact that Owen Grady hasn’t lost his affinity for velociraptors – you know, despite the whole ordeal of Jurassic World when Isla Nublar was almost reduced to rubble.

Perhaps more than anything else, this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it trailer is a nice precursor of what’s to come, given Universal plans to launch the first-look teaser for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom before the year’s end – likely alongside the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th.

The real question is, of course, whether Fallen Kingdom can emulate the meteoric success of its predecessor. Everyone knew Colin Trevorrow’s 2015 blockbuster would be an instant success, but few would have guessed that Universal’s CG-laden revival would go on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all time with $1.6 billion. Since then, the torch has been passed down to Juan Antonio Bayona, who has reportedly envisioned a much scarier and more intense incarnation of Jurassic World.

Also starring Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, and Thor: Ragnarok‘s Jeff Goldblum, who reprises the legendary role of Ian Malcolm, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is due to arrive on June 22nd, 2018.
