Justice League Action Figure Reveals Steppenwolf Character Design

Something the two Justice League trailers released so far have been missing is a glimpse of the movie's main bad guy. With uber-villain Darkseid apparently being held back for the sequel, the central antagonist of the upcoming flick will be Steppenwolf, Darkseid's trusted general from Apokolips. As played by Irish actor Ciaran Hinds, the character will no doubt be in charge of those Parademon hordes that our heroes have been seen battling in the trailers.

Something the two Justice League trailers released so far have been missing is a glimpse of the movie’s main bad guy. While we still don’t have a proper look at how he’ll appear in the film just yet, we do now have a glance at his design thanks to this new action figure boxset. Batman-News revealed the exclusive shots of the set, which features one toy of the villain and one of Batman.

The character had previously been depicted during a scene from the extended cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, when Lex Luthor had a vision of him (we think?) before he was arrested. Judging by this action figure, though, Steppenwolf has been significantly redesigned for Justice League. This version is much more in keeping with the look from the comics, which should please fans, though his face is closer to the monstrous one from BvS than his more human features on the page.

We might be about to see Steppenwolf in the flesh very soon, too, as a new trailer is expected to land at San Diego Comic-Con towards the end of the month, alongside our first look at Aquaman. That is, if recent rumors are to be believed.

Directed by Zack Snyder (with additional reshoots helmed by Joss Whedon), Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher, and arrives in theatres on November 17th.
