Justice League Extended Cut Could Contain 35-45% New Footage

At this point, Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League has become the stuff of legend. Ever since the DC tentpole stormed into theaters back in November, there's been a fierce debate over whether such a thing actually exists or not. For every "insider" or crew member that says it's out there, another one says the opposite. With Warner Bros. refusing to comment on the matter, fans are left hopelessly on their own, trying to figure out what to believe.

And while that is still very much the case, yet another “inside source” has come forth this week, telling us a bit about what to expect should any sort of extended version end up surfacing. As always, we’d advise taking everything here with a grain of salt, but according to this individual, we might be seeing a ton of new footage.

“Any Justice League Extended Cut/Directors Cut could essentially be an entirely new film, as in 35-45% of additional footage, many shots of which I’m told are now entirely mastered finals, some were actually still being worked on post JL theatrical release.”

Continuing on, they noted that it might not be possible for WB to give us a “fully fledged” Snyder Cut simply because it might not be worth the money.

“People seem to want a fully fledged Zack Snyder Directors Cut. whether it’s viable for WB to invest is another thing, however, if you have all your ducks lined up in a row, with a fresh lick of paint, that’s already been paid for. Well that’s a very different thing. We’ll see.”

Finally, they said that whatever the studio ends up releasing, it won’t be announced until after the initial Blu-ray launch, so as to not interfere with that.

“Whatever it’ll be will be announced post Justice League theatrical edition on Blu. Why dunk once, when you can keep dunking that biscuit.”

Admittedly, there’s not much here in the way of concrete information and it does seem like this “inside source” is doing a fair bit of speculating. But then again, it’s not like we’ve heard anything from the studio, either, and at this point, all we’ve really got to go on are reports like these. Still, we’d say that some kind of Director’s Cut or Extended Cut is almost definitely in the works. We’re just unsure if it’ll be made up of Snyder or Whedon’s deleted scenes, or a mix of both.

What we can tell you with absolute certainty in the meantime, however, is that Justice League is now available for pre-order over on Amazon, so be sure to put your money down if you hope to take home the DCEU’s latest effort when it drops on Blu-ray/DVD in March.
