Justice League Producer Wants To Make A Martian Manhunter Movie

Although it's taken some serious catching up, we DC fans are slowly seeing our favorite superheroes making their way to the big screen. Well, that is, those who aren't Superman or Batman, the cash cows that Warner Bros. have been banking on for more than three quarters of a century.

Suffice it to say, a highly anticipated team-up flick such as Justice League has done wonders to open the floodgates, handily introducing mainstream moviegoers to the likes of the Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman. Still, there are other characters from the DC pantheon who are said to get their time in the spotlight in the coming years, namely Shazam, Black Adam and Nightwing, just to name a few.

But even though we’re hoping those come to fruition – and you’d better believe this writer is really pulling for Nightwing – many of us still have unfulfilled wishlists. Believe it or not, things such as this extend all the way to the top.

In a recent interview with CBR, producer Charles Roven, one of the guiding hands behind the DC Extended Universe, was asked which characters he’d like to see headline their own movies. After listing off some of the usual suspects, he dropped the name of a fan favorite:

“I wouldn’t necessarily say that I would rather do that character, because we know that there is going to be a Flash movie, we know that Aquaman is being done, I think that Cyborg deserves his own movie too, and I know that the fans are out there screaming for Green Lantern, that’s for sure. But I was always a fan of J’onn J’onzz, Manhunter from Mars.”

Actually, there were many diehard geeks who were puzzled as to why Martian Manhunter wasn’t included in the Justice League movie, especially since he was one of the core members in the comics for decades, not to mention in the beloved animated series as well. Unfortunately, it may still be some time before such a film will see the light of day, given how J’onn J’onzz is currently a recurring character on the Supergirl TV series, but it’s good to know that someone at DC is rooting for it to happen.
