Kat Dennings Addresses If She’s Returning For Thor: Love And Thunder

Thor: Ragnarok departed from the tone and feel of the first two Thor movies, moving away from Earth and therefore losing much of the God of Thunder's supporting cast. Its upcoming sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder, meanwhile, promises to glue the series back together somewhat by bringing back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, only this time she'll be the one with the Asgardian superpowers as the Mighty Thor.

But will any of the crew from the original films make returns as well? Kat Dennings, for instance, hasn’t been seen in the MCU as Jane’s intern Darcy Lewis since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. ComicBook.com recently caught up with the actress though and pressed her for details on if she could show up in Love and Thunder. Dennings played coy in her reply, but made it clear that she’d love to work with director Taika Waititi.

“No one has talked to me and even if they had, I definitely couldn’t say anything about it. Oh my God, I am such a huge fan of his, What We Do in the Shadows, one my favorite movies ever. So it would be an honor to work with him, but I have no info. None.”

Whether Darcy returns or not presumably depends on how Jane is handled in the movie. If, say, she kicks off the film already powered up as Thor then there might not be room for the character in the story. However, if we get a bit of Jane leading her normal life on Earth before she becomes worthy enough to lift Mjolnir, then maybe Darcy could get a role. Dennings is a gifted comedian, so she’d definitely fit with Waititi’s light-hearted style.

As well as Chris Hemsworth and Portman, Tessa Thompson has also signed up to reprise Valkyrie once more. The star teased at Comic-Con that this time the warrior will be looking for her queen, now that she’s the king of Asgard. Hey, maybe it could be Darcy?

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on November 5th, 2021 and production is due to take place in Australia.
