Meanwhile, in an interview with MTV discussing the film in greater depth, Feige also offered up reasons as to why another MCU up-and-comer was excised from the movie. Late last year when Marvel unveiled its grand plans for Phase 3, one major favorite was included in that new roster: Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers. That spawned a wave of excitement within the fan community who hoped to see her introduced in the Age of Ultron post-credits scene. While the matter of her appearance has been shot down, along with hope of an after-credits scene, Feige did reveal that at one point in early development the character was slated to appear in Ultron.
In his chat with MTV, he offered a simple reason as to why they gave her the chop:
We didn’t want to introduce her fully-formed flying in a costume before you got to know who she was and how she came to be.
The outlet then went on to ask if those previous rumors concerning the casting were indeed true. Well, as it transpires they’re not. The studio is focusing its efforts on locking in screenwriters before it begins scouting for suitable female leads. Or could that be another spot of misdirection?
