Marvel Will Introduce New Characters Into The MCU After Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame is often talked about as the grand culmination of everything the MCU's been building up over the past 22 films and ten years. Not that that means the franchise is wrapping up anytime soon, though. Far from it, in fact, as Marvel Studios plans to introduce many more fresh heroes to the big screen in the next few years, according to president Kevin Feige.

Not that that means the franchise is wrapping up anytime soon, though. Far from it, in fact, as Marvel Studios plans to introduce many more fresh heroes to the big screen in the next few years, according to president Kevin Feige.

While speaking on the Playback podcast, Feige was asked about the filmmakers that’ll be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Phase Four. He couldn’t name them as they haven’t officially been announced as yet, but various reports about upcoming MCU movies allow us to fill in the blanks for ourselves. The producer promised, though, that there are many more projects to come from the studio.

“The only thing we’ve officially, officially announced after Avengers: Endgame is the Spider-Man movie that we’re working on now, Spider-Man: Far From Home. There are other things in development, there are other filmmakers [including The Eternals director Chloe Zhao and Black Widow director Cate Shortland] who are working on things in development. But when and where and how and why, we haven’t discussed yet. But it is fair to say that we will continue making films after Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Feige then went onto say that Marvel continues to be dedicated to both bringing more under-appreciated properties from the comics to life as well as telling new adventures for old favorites.

“The way we want to do it is sort of the way we’ve done it up to now… in unexpected ways. Continuing to bring characters to the screen that you haven’t seen before, while at the same time seeing new stories in new ways of the heroes you already know.”

Other films reportedly on the slate include Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2, Shang-Chi and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, if the directorial void’s ever filled. And, of course, there are also those big-budget TV series coming to Disney Plus which are due to star the likes of Loki, Scarlet Witch and Vision and Winter Soldier and Falcon. Despite the title, then, clearly Avengers: Endgame is not the end for the MCU. Not by a long shot.
