Kevin Feige Says The Next Version Of The Avengers Will Be Very Different

Though Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce another big screen outing for the Avengers, the record-breaking success of this year’s Endgame makes it pretty clear that the Mouse House isn’t about to let Earth’s Mightiest Heroes disappear from our screens anytime soon. But while the Avengers name will no doubt live on in future movies, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the team’s next incarnation will serve as quite a departure from the previous line-up.

In a recent interview with MTV News, producer Kevin Feige teased that the next version of the Avengers will be “a very different team” consisting of some characters we’ve already met and some that we haven’t.

It’s nice to hear it straight from the head of Marvel Studios, though of course, many of us had long assumed that this would be the case. After all, the recent Endgame brought some definitive closure to the journeys of Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow, leaving only Thor, Hulk and Hawkeye from the original six. That leaves the team with at least a few slots open, including a leadership position that might well be taken by Captain Marvel.

Last night’s San Diego Comic-Con announcements may also offer a few clues for how the next Avengers team might look. As well as old favorites like Doctor Strange, Falcon and Scarlet Witch remaining in the game, these next couple of years will see the introduction of several new superheroes, including Shang-Chi and Jane Foster’s female Thor.

In any case, seeing how the MCU’s schedule is all booked up until the end of 2021, fans may still have at least another three years to speculate on the new line-up. In the meantime, Marvel’s Phase 4 kicks off with the release of Black Widow on May 1st, 2020.
