Kristen Stewart is back in the saddle after being flung around journalist’s columns (ooh err) for her personal antics. Following on from the year when her affair with Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders took precedent in the tabloids for the actress, she’s now signed onto two new projects. First up is drama Sils Maria from director Oliver Assayas.

Stewart will board the film after the departure of Mia Wasikowska. Hmmm. Could this be a case of the studio thinking Stewart is a bigger draw? Still very much attached to the film are Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz. Set in Europe, Sils Maria tells the story of an ageing actress (Binoche) who becomes utterly obsessed by a younger actress (Moretz) that takes on the role which made Binoche’s character famous in her younger years. Stewart is going to be loitering about giving advice as Binoche’s assistant.

Sounds VERY much like All About Eve to us. Whatever it turns out like, it’ll be a further move into a solid direction for Stewart, who has acting talent but obviously keeps forgetting that fact as she appeared in more than one Twilight film.

But, wait, there’s more! She’s also signed onto Camp X-Ray, a drama about a soldier (Stewart) who is allocated duties at Guantanamo Bay and gets cosy with one of the inmates. No, not like that. They’re just friends. It’ll be directed by Peter Sattler and produced by David Gordon Green. The idea of Stewart donning fatigues convincingly might be a tough pill to swallow. No might about it, it is impossible to imagine her in that type of authoritative role. Let’s give her a chance eh and hopefully she’ll surprise us.

Stewart will first work on Sils Maria which is set to shoot in Switzerland this summer, followed by Camp X-Ray later this year.
