Latest Fantasy News: Promises that ‘the best is yet to come’ delight ‘Good Omens’ fans as a ‘Warrior Nun’ staple mixes up his streamers

The next season of 'Good Omens' is right around the corner.

By this point, it’s old news that Warrior Nun is miraculously coming back for a new season.

The popular fantasy series was among Netflix’s ill-fated cuts, cancelled in late 2022 to broad outcry from fans. After months of campaigning, and tireless attempts to see the show return, the fanbase finally secured their renewal. News about how, exactly, the story will return is still up in the air — whether it goes the Firefly route and polishes things off with a movie, or simply heads into another season — but one thing is all but certain: it won’t be on Netflix.

Nor will many future fantasy offerings, if the creatives behind them have any sense. Netflix is, increasingly, where our fantasy favorites go to die, while alternate platforms like Prime Video pump out delightful hits like Good Omens. The wonderful adaptation is headed back for a second season soon, and — if Neil Gaiman is to be believed — its even better than the first.

Shows often lose quality the longer they remain on the air, and we’re hopeful Good Omens doesn’t follow in this trend. Its certainly weighted down genre favorites before, with even Game of Thrones (or especially Game of Thrones, depending on how you look at it) falling victim to the common stumbling block. Despite that fact, the show remains a shining example of wonderful fantasy (in its early seasons, at least) and it made its lead stars some serious money.

The franchise is already riding that momentum into the 2020s with House of the Dragon, and Hunger Games is set to follow suit with The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is expected out later this year. The Hunger Games prequel stars a brand new heroine, one who immediately prompted questions about her relation to Katniss. Do the two have more than their rebellious energy in common?

News of a new entry in the Hunger Games lineup sparked instant excitement among the story’s broad fanbase, as they look ahead to a brand new adventure later this year. The series fully departs from the timeline of the original, however, and takes place long before the days of Katniss Everdeen. Lucy Gray, the new protagonist, could still have some connections back to the iconic heroine, and fans want to know if we should be calling her Grammy Gray

We all know how conversations take a turn when later seasons of Game of Thrones crop up, but that didn’t stop the show’s stars from making some serious cash. Over eight seasons on the show, and their following career moves, some of the cast members are worth a staggering amount of money — and one of the wealthiest among them didn’t even survive past the first season.

Neil Gaiman adds momentum to the Good Omens hype train

Hype is already high for season two of Prime Video’s Good Omens adaptation, and one of the story’s original authors, Neil Gaiman, is only stirring the pot. The celebrated author reassured fans — some of whom are concerned about all the extra content released surrounding season two — that we’re set to be impressed

Warrior Nun’s Joaquim de Almeida is still getting his facts straight

News that Warrior Nun will return for a continuation of its story, which was cut far too short by Netflix late last year, has officially reached everyone. Many members of the show’s cast already reacted to news of its renewal, but one — Joaquim de Almeida — only recently added his voice to the mix. He’s certainly delighted to see the show return, but he might be a bit confused about where its next part will land. We’re still uncertain about who, exactly, saved the show, and where its next part will air once it’s out, but we’re pretty positive its not the same place that killed it the first time around.
