Latest Marvel News: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ won’t repeat ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’s blunders as ‘Black Panther 2’s dark mistake still haunts Disney

James Gunn understands the pain we felt watching 'Thor 4.'

In many ways, the pressure has never been higher than for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as James Gunn‘s imminent threequel is being painted as the one film that could save the MCU after its recent creative rut. So it’s a relief to hear the aforementioned filmmaker suggest he’s not going to make some of the mistakes Taika Waititi did in last year’s infamous Thor: Love and Thunder. On the other hand, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s own sins are spreading into a whole other franchise.

While pretty much the entire rest of the MCU has been passed down from director to director, the Guardians are very much James Gunn’s babies, so it’s no surprise that they felt a little off in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame and even more so in Love and Thunder. Gunn himself is too much of a gentleman to really lay into his fellow Marvel creatives, but he has now broken his silence on the matter and admitted there are certain things about the characters’ behavior in those movies he doesn’t like. So get ready for Vol. 3 to be much more authentic and emotional than the glibness of the Guardians in LaT.

Captain America 4 might just be promising the return of the Eternals… and the birth of Wolverine

Yes, you read that right. The latest updates from filming on Captain America: New World Order indicate that an ambitious island set is being constructed. This is important as it plays into reports that the calcified body of Tiamut the Celestial — one of the literal largest plot holes still dangling in the MCU since Eternals — will finally return in the film. What’s more, the thinking is it will be mined for Adamantium, thereby teeing up the arrival of Wolverine in the MCU. Again, we haven’t got a concrete confirmation that this mega-crossover is happening, but the odds are looking good.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid dragged to the depths as it repeats Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s darkest sin

What is it with Hollywood’s current obsession with underwater movies? More specifically, what’s with Disney’s habit of making them so darn hard to see? With The Little Mermaid swiftly swimming into cinemas, Mouse House addicts are complaining that the color palette is just too dark to make out — which is exactly the same thing everyone said about Wakanda Forever when that landed on Disney Plus back in February. Although, honestly, we’d take a slightly gloomy streaming release over it remaining in Disney Plus limbo… Yes, that was a not-so-subtle hint for the studio to finally drop Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania already.

Another wave of the latest Marvel news around, including Chris Pratt’s revelation about how James Gunn and Dave Bautista saved him from blowing his Star-Lord audition, will hit your shores real soon.
