Latest Marvel News: Jonathan Majors crashing ‘The Marvels’ might’ve fixed ‘Quantumania’ as ‘Deadpool 3’ brings Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s feud full circle

Has Kang been messing with the MCU timeline again?

It feels like Kang the Conqueror might’ve been up to his old tricks again and messed with the MCU timeline. On top of Marvel fans pitching a wild alternate opening for Phase Five that would’ve seen Jonathan Majors‘ ubervillain face off against Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel instead of Ant-Man, Deadpool 3 is proving that time is a circle with a bizarre, and extremely ominous, coincidence. Meanwhile, speaking of Larson, Sony looks like it wants in on The Marvels game — a brave move, to be sure.

Deadpool 3‘s sports a scary coincidence that threatens to send the superhero movie clock back a full 14 years

Deadpool 3 of course marks the first time that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have shared the screen as Wade Wilson and Wolverine since 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It’s never even entered into our heads that the MCU-set threequel could end up anywhere near the same level of bad as that infamous stinker, but, as DP3 starts shooting, the weirdest coincidence has been discovered that may cause X-Men experts with long memories to break out into a cold sweat. Although, in truth, there’s something else about the film that’s more likely to cause contention among the fandom.

Would a Jonathan Majors vs. Brie Larson battle in The Marvels have fixed the MCU’s Phase Five?

Was Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the strongest entrance Kang could’ve had in the MCU? No. Could his status as the Multiverse Saga’s big bad been better solidified if he appeared in The Marvels first instead? Huh, now there’s a thought. Continuing the curious evolution of the whole Jonathan Majors conversation coming back around to folks loving the character, it’s being wondered if Kang’s first superhero battle should’ve been with Carol Danvers, given that the pair are more of a physical match. We’ll probably eventually get this confrontation in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but whether Majors will still be playing the part at the time, who can say.

Sony looks set to get its own Captain Marvel, which is both a good thing and a bad thing

Sydney Sweeney is due to make her superhero movie debut in Sony’s Madame Web opposite Dakota Johnson, as well as Emma Roberts. As you’d expect from a film featuring those three mega-popular actresses, the Euphoria star wants to stress that this multiversal-themed outing will deliver “a powerhouse of badass females.” While that’s great for those of us who are always up for more female-fronted comic book projects, I can practically already hear those who tanked Captain Marvel‘s Rotten Tomatoes score already sharpening their pitchforks. Good luck with this one, Sony.

As Marvel continues to try and gaslight us into thinking the Avengers don’t exist anymore, I’m telling the truth when I say more of the latest MCU updates are coming soon.
