We’ve spoken about the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Curse and the Eternals Curse, but, honestly, the whole of the Multiverse Saga has faced its fair share of bad luck at this point. For instance, as yet another of Marvel Studios’ upcoming productions is forced to hit the pause button, the number of movies that can actually feasibly make it out before Phase Five ends is swiftly dwindling. On the plus side, at least folks are realizing the grand cosmic reason why we had to sit through the aforementioned Ant-Man 3.
As Thunderbolts joins the Indefinitely Delayed Club, Marvel has just 2 upcoming Phase Five films running smoothly
Yes, Thunderbolts has become the latest Marvel production to be forced to halt due to the impact of the WGA Strike, following on from both Blade and Wonder Man. While Captain America: New World Order is shooting, Deadpool 3 — which likewise just entered production — is actually set to launch Phase Six when it releases in November 2024. So with Thunderbolts and Blade due in July and September next year respectively, they are running out of time to get going before they cause the entire Multiverse Saga schedule to fall like dominoes. To be clear, I’m not blaming the striking writers. Hurry up and pay them properly, Hollywood!
Quantumania haters realize there’s light at the end of the tunnel as the reward for their suffering is revealed
With Quantumania well and truly in our rearview mirror now that it’s finally on Disney Plus, Superhero fans are actually starting to realize the upside to enduring the mercilessly criticized threequel. With early reviews for both DC’s The Flash and Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming in this week and being wildly positive in nature, it seems like the universe was simply testing our commitment to this genre by making us sit through the MCU’s joint worst-reviewed movie ever only to then treat us to three popular offerings back-to-back, if you include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
James Gunn and Karen Gillan’s bombshell means Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 could turn into a Marvel soap opera
Speaking of which, the MCU fandom is also currently chewing over the potential impact that a surprising revelation from James Gunn could have on the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The director has confirmed that Karen Gillan believes Nebula has always had a crush on Peter Quill, a concept that he supports. With the two of them backing up this claim, that basically makes it canon. So I guess that means we’re headed for Marvel’s most soap-opera storyline ever — a guy getting together with the sister of his ex-girlfriend who came back from the dead? — in Guardians Vol. 4.
The latest announcements, fan reactions, and answers to questions you always wanted to know — like Hailee Steinfeld revealing who would win in a fight between Kate Bishop and Spider-Gwen — will be here a lot sooner than Thunderbolts. Sorry, too soon?
