Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted is hitting theaters on March 21st, and the brains behind the upcoming sequel have taken it upon themselves to release a series of international promotional posters parodying classic spy films. Before you ask: yes, they are as awesome as you’d expect them to be. The Muppets have a long tradition of being sweetly and smartly satirical, and the spy spoof posters making their way around the web right now fit in perfectly with their legacy.
The posters, which you can see below, feature Kermit, Miss Piggy and the new Muppet nemesis, Constantine (a dead ringer for everybody’s favorite frog), in Muppet-ized versions of Skyfall, Face/Off, The World Is Not Enough and (brilliantly) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. They all look fantastic and are another step in the right direction for the Muppets, as they continue to move forward in recreating their image for a new era of potential lifelong fans without dismissing the decades of history that came before 2011’s The Muppets.
Take a peak below and let us know what you think of the new posters for Muppets Most Wanted in the comments section. We’d love to hear your suggestions for other classic spy films that would fit into this Muppets-based scheme. How about some of the other characters, like Gonzo, Rowlf and Fozzie, in iconic spy roles? We all know that Gonzo would definitely make an outstanding “Q” (or “G” as the case may be), right?
