Since it was announced that franchise star Shia LaBeouf would not be starring alongside the heroic Autobots and the too-cool Decepticons in Transformers 4, speculation has run rampant as to who will headline the franchise in another series of films. While no casting has been confirmed, SpoilerTV has some possible details on the film’s new lead characters.

Check out what they had to say below:

It looks like Transformers 4 will have 2 new leads. The new female lead that they are looking for is a high school senior and her boyfriend a Texas racing driver.

Does it imply that the main lead will be the new female character? If so it’ll be a definite change from previous entries in the franchise that showcased LaBeouf’s character, Sam Witwicky, pining over his female co-star. Or will the ‘Texas racing driver boyfriend’ be the new main lead and will we actually have someone who can drive a car behind the wheel of an awesome Autobot?

The film is also rumored to take place in outer space alongside a new cast of robots, but director Michael Bay has insisted that it will not be a reboot and that Autobot leader Optimus Prime would be back.

I’d advise taking this latest report with a grain of salt until we hear more. The source of the report is unclear, and while some other news sites state that these casting tidbits come from the official casting call for the Michael Bay-directed film, I’d remain skeptical until other news comes our way.

The film is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2014, so we’re still a long ways away from seeing anything concrete.

What do you think? Will Transformers 4 still be a success with a main female lead? Let us know in the comments below.
